U14 report - 29 March
Our U14 'A' team ended the season in style with 2 good wins to finish top of Group 'A' of the East League. In spite of missing 7 regulars, the team won 8-0 v WITkids and 2-0 v Livingston.
The newcomers to the team all played superbly. Defenders Emily Gray and Tara Campbell were faultless all day, helping keep 2 clean sheets, and Peter Akyol and Katherine Fisher both scored in commanding midfield performances. Also on the scoresheet were Claire Errington with a hatrick, plus Ailie Clapperton and Ailsa Small each scoring 2. With Charlotte McCallum and Rory Price having their best games this term, this was a really strong team performance. A great way to end a great season. Well done and thank you to all players, and to Carolyn Thornton for coaching.
And the Development team also finished on a high, beating Grange 'A' 1-0 and drawing with Livingston 'B' 0-0 to guarantee at least 2nd place in Group B. 3 players made their debuts - Peter Swan had 2 strong games, and Rob Paterson set up his sister Katie for the winning goal against Grange. They all look very good prospects for next season. Once again the defence was unbeatable, with Michael Rendle and Philip Bryans working very well together.
Everyone played their part in a good morning's hockey - and finally we had some sunshine! A huge thank you and well done to coach Judith Niven.

Congratulations to Rachel Ruxton and her U14 'C' team who won Group D at Meggetland today. In a very tense final day, the team came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Cala B thanks to goals from Elizabeth Kosman, Nina Floydd and Jimmy Symonds. This meant they had to beat Linlithgow to win the league on goal difference. Nina Floydd scored early on before Linlithgow equalised and Jimmy Symonds snatched the win with a neat reverse stick finish 2 minutes from time.
The 'B' team, coached by Camile Asmar and Sam Stewart, finished their season losing 1-0 to Kelso before beating Firrhill 2-0 with both goals from Emma Thorley
