Pre-Season Training
Time to get back into shape for the season ahead. The Men's 1s, 2s and Ladies' 2s are training from 7-8.30pm at Myreside on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on Saturdays at times to be confirmed. Any other teams welcome to join in the 'fun'. The training will be predominantly running so bring comfortable trainers and plenty water.
Ladies' Goalkeeper Wanted
Watsonians are looking for a new ladies goalkeeper to play primarily in the Ladies' 1st XI in National Division 2. Interested 'keepers should contact Alex Robertson in the first instance.
Club Day date announced
The 2010 Club Day will be on Saturday September 4th at Tipperlinn. There will be mixed mini-games and a barbecue afterwards to welcome new members. More details will be available here closer to the time.
Men's 2s triumph in the District Plate Final
The Men's 2s finished the season on a high by winning the District Plate at Peffermill on Sunday 9th of May beating Glasgow Uni 2s 2-1.
It was a sluggish start from 'Sonians which was hardly surprising given it was the Club Dinner the previous evening. Uni scored after two and a half minutes and 'Sonians struggled to string passes together and it was 0-1 at half time.
It was definitely a game of two halves as 'Sonians rallied and with 15 to go Malcolm Reid deflected Ben Wiley's cross-shot high into the net to equalise. With 4 to go Danny Cain fed Wiley who again rolled the ball to the back post for Reid to grab the winner. To read a full match report click here
